Outpatient Orthopaedic Surgery
If you need orthopaedic procedures on an outpatient (ambulatory) basis, you can choose one of three location options for your surgery.

Pre-Surgical Testing Program
Presurgical testing involves specialized medical testing and planning in advance of surgery to assist with limiting complications, particularly infection. Our program uses a multidisciplinary approach that includes our surgeons and anesthesia staff, as well as your primary care provider. Total Joint Replacement Surgery
More than 1,000 total joint replacements are performed each year at The Orthopaedic Institute. Total knee and total hip replacement surgery are performed by specialized, dedicated teams in our operating suite. Patients benefit from the latest in equipment and computer-assisted technology. Since 2008, surgeons at The Orthopaedic Institute have been performing the anterior, muscle sparing approach to hip replacement in addition to more traditional approaches. A specialized operating room table and x-ray guidance enable surgeons to access the hip from the front, instead of the side or back, allowing for more precise placement of implants without the need to cut muscle. Patients at The Orthopaedic Institute having an anterior hip replacement typically experience:
- Shorter lengths of stay;
- Less need for physical therapy;
- Fewer restrictions on movement and activities post-surgery;
- Lower risk of dislocating the new joint;
- Shorter recovery times and quicker return to daily routines.
Spine Surgery
The Orthopaedic Institute specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of spine disorders. Treatment may involve nonsurgical option such as physical therapy, medications, braces, injections and education. Many surgical options are available including minimally invasive approaches, all performed by specially trained teams in the operating room.
