18th Annual Pedaling for Payson Raises Over $200,000

Funds will support the Nurse Navigator Program at Payson Center for Cancer Care

On September 9, 2023, 279 cyclists participated in Concord Hospital Trust’s 18th annual Pedaling for Payson event at Elm Brook Park in Hopkinton, NH. Over $200,000 was raised to support the Nurse Navigator Program at Concord Hospital’s Payson Center for Cancer Care.

Nurse Navigators assist patients and their families to ease them through cancer treatment. The program supported 140 patients this year.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of support for the Pedaling for Payson event,” said Veronica Rosa, chief advancement officer. “This year’s event had a 16 percent increase in riders and raised $40,000 more over last year. The generous support from cycling enthusiasts and sponsors enables us to provide patients with essential services during their cancer treatment.”

The top three teams collectively raised over $42,000 and included: Friends of Day Surgery with $18,630; Team NEMBA with $13,760; and Team HOPE with $10,098. In addition, the following individuals were recognized for their fundraising efforts: Mark Schiewetz and Dr. Scott Oosterveen, both of Friends of Day Surgery, with $10,835 and $6,895, respectively, and Matt Bowser of Team NEMBA with $5,975.

Pedaling for Payson would not be possible without support from our major sponsors, including Concord Orthopaedics, The Demoulas Foundation, Ragged Mountain Resort, Concord Imaging Center, S&W Sports, The Common Man, Johnny Prescott Oil, Swenson Granite Works, Harvey Construction, New Hampshire Distributors, Voya Financial, M&T Bank, Dennehy & Bouley, Devine, Millimet & Branch P.A., and Trek Bicycle Concord.

Fifteen Concord Hospital employees and community volunteers helped at the event.
